About Monroe City Court
The Monroe City Court, State of Louisiana is a court of limited jurisdiction. The territorial jurisdiction for Monroe City Court is Wards 3 and 10 of Ouachita Parish. The Monroe City Court Clerk’s Office is the clerical and processing branch of the Monroe City Court. The Clerk’s Office is the initial step when filing lawsuits within the jurisdiction of Monroe City Court. The office is charged with the responsibility of recording, filing, and maintaining the proceedings of Monroe City Court and is the repository of the court’s case files, dockets, and other journals relating to court proceedings and records filed with Monroe City Court. Monroe City Court has jurisdiction over all violations of city ordinances and concurrent jurisdiction over state misdemeanor cases. The court also has jurisdiction over civil matters, evictions, as well as certain juvenile matters.
Catherine Varner serves as Clerk of Monroe City Court and is supported by Chief Deputy Clerk Octavia Woods-Cobbs.
